Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate grinding machines, including surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and other related equipment.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure precise and consistent results that meet production specifications.
- Monitor machine performance and proactively address issues to optimize efficiency.
- Material Preparation and Handling:
- Load and position materials or parts onto machines, ensuring proper alignment to meet dimensional specifications.
- Handle rubber materials and components, ensuring accurate processing and maintaining material integrity.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ensure components meet quality standards, design specifications, and tolerances.
- Record inspection results and report defects or irregularities to supervisors.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues, escalating repairs as required.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all workplace safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of production data, material usage, and equipment maintenance.
- Complete work orders, inspection logs, and related documentation as required.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the production team and supervisors to achieve daily and long-term production targets.
- Provide input on ways to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Vocational or technical training in machining, materials processing, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or machining operations, with specific experience in grinding processes (preferred).
- Experience working with materials such as rubber or other specialized components is an asset.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining grinding machines, including precision adjustments.
- Strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications.
- Familiarity with handling non-metal materials such as rubber or polymers is highly desirable.
- Competence in using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and an ability to work with automated systems.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and equipment programming.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to [X lbs], as needed.
- Comfortable standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Adaptability to work in a noisy, fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial machinery. Handling of specialized materials such as rubber is required. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn at all times to ensure safety.
